Police Deploy 3,600 Personnel to Guard Rally in Front of DPR

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police mobilized some 3,600 personnel to secure the demonstration against communism held in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) Building today morning, July 16.
“Around 3,400 to 3,600 personnel are deployed,” confirmed the Police Traffic Directorate Head Sr. Comr. Sambodo Purnomo Yogo.
The rally was staged by several organizations, including the 212 alumni brotherhood or PA 212.
Sambodo explained that the number of personnel was divided into two shifts. The police also carried out traffic engineering around the location in order to disperse vehicle density in the area.
Previously reported, the Anti-communist National Alliance planned to hold a demonstration at the MPR/DPR Building, Jakarta on Thursday, July 16. The rally would be attended by the alliance members totaling 174 communities, such as PA 212, the Islamic Front Defenders (FPI), and the Movement of Indonesian Council Edict Supporters (GNPF).
They demanded the DPR revoke the draft law on Pancasila Ideology Guidelines or RUU HIP from the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
On the same day and place, a rally against the draft law on job creation or RUU Cipta Kerja was staged by workers joined in the Labor with the People Movement (Gebrak) and the National Association of University Student Executive Bodies (BEM-SI).
