TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo invited a number of Indonesian artists to the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Among the entertainers and Youtubers attended the meeting were Butet Kertaradjasa, Cak Lontong, Tompi, Andre Taulany, Yuni Shara, Raffi Ahmad, and Atta Halilintar.
After the meeting, a versatile actor Butet said that the President demanded them help disseminate the implementation of the health protocols against COVID-19 to the public.
“Pak President expects us, people from the arts, to help articulate the government’s strategic measures in saving the nation from the pandemic threat,” said Butet at the Presidential Palace Complex, Tuesday, July 14.
The artists, Butet added, were pleased to undertake the requests to disperse the predetermined health protocols against the novel coronavirus infection and the dangers of the new virus. “At least, call on the public and fans to comply with the government’s orders of wearing face masks,” he said.
On the same occasion, a famous comedian Cak Lontong expressed his appreciation for the meeting since artists could directly share their opinion with President Jokowi, especially amid the pandemic.
“Hopefully, there will be soon a synergy to provide guidance especially for us, art workers, and others who are affected [by the pandemic],” Cak Lontong added.
