TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said Monday that based on calculations the COVID-19 pandemic in the country would peak in August-September this year.
"Looking at the numbers, the peak is forecasted to take place in August or September," said the president at the Merdeka Palace on Monday, July 13.
Up till Monday, Indonesia has recorded 76,981 confirmed cases in total with 1,282 new daily cases, with Jakarta contributing the most.
Jokowi said the figure was still fluctuative and would likely to climb sans government's intervention, thus he kept on asking his subordinates for extraordinary endeavors.
Jokowi has actually underscored the issue during a Cabinet plenary meeting on June 18 when asking his ministers to be on the same frequency in facing the COVID-19 crisis.
