Surabaya Hospital Resident Physician Dies of COVID-19 Exposure

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Doctors Associaton (IDI) mourns the passing of a resident physician of the Dr. Soetomo General Hospital in Surabaya due to COVID-19

This news was confirmed by Surabaya City IDI chairperson, Dr. Brahmana Askandar, on Monday to Tempo. “It is true [her death] is due to COVID-19,” he said. 

Putri Wulan had reportedly died on Sunday, July 5, at 23:58 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Putri was in Airlangga University’s pediatric education program. 

Putri was the niece of Arief Basuki, an anesthesiologist tasked at the Haji Surabaya General Hospital who died because of COVID-19 exposure on June 30. 

Another physician by the name Miftah Fawzy, Chief of the Internal Medicine Resident of the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University, had also perished due to COVID-19 exposure on June 10.
