TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, in his acceptance speech celebrating ITB’s 100 year anniversary, mentioned World Bank’s upgrade on Indonesia’s income bracket to an upper-middle income country as of July 1.
“Yesterday, Indonesia’s status had been upgraded from being a lower-middle-income country into an upper-middle-income country,” said President Jokowi on Friday, July 3.
The country’s gross national income per capita had improved to US$4,050 from US$ 3,840. In response, the president called for everyone to be grateful.
“This improvement must be appreciated and be dealt with as a chance for our country to continue progressing, making leaps to make us a country with high-income and escape the middle-income trap,” said Jokowi.
