TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Legislation Body of the House of Representatives (DPR) agreed on the removal of 16 bills from the 2020 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas), including the bill on the elimination of sexual violence or RUU PKS.
The Head of the Legislation Body (Baleg) Supratman Andi Agtas claimed it was due to the pending on the completion of the criminal code bill or RUU KUHP.
“Because it [the bill deliberation] awaits the passage of the RUU KUHP since it strongly relates to the imposition of sanctions,” said Supratman in a meeting with the Law and Human Rights Ministry and the DPR committee of law drafting at the DPR building on Thursday, July 2.
Supratman hoped the bill would be listed again in the Prolegnas after the deliberation of RUU KUHP completes between the government and the House Commission III.
The head of NasDem Party faction, Taufik Basari, reminded that his party was the initiator of the bill before the status was changed into the Commission VIII’s proposal. The faction planned to propose the bill to be listed in the 2021 Prolegnas in October 2020, even if the commission did not want to.
Taufik further called on other factions to support the proposal of the elimination of sexual violence or RUU PKS to the 2021 National Legislation Program.
