TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to extend the period of transitional PSBB or the large-scale social restriction for fourteen days. The first phase was valid from June 5 until July 2, 2020.
“The transitional PSBB is still ongoing. The capacity limit of 50 percent will remain effective for the next fourteen days,” said Anies in a press conference at the City Hall, Wednesday, July 1.
The former education and culture minister said that the decision to extend the transition period to a new normal era was made based on three indicators, namely epidemiology data that scored 75, public health at 54, and health facilities at 83.
A region could relax the Covid-19 restrictions if its indicators are scored above 70, while Jakarta had 71. Besides, the capacity of the virus test held by the capital city exceeded the target of the World Health Organization (WHO).
WHO expected a total of 1,000 novel coronavirus tests per one million population in a day. Jakarta, Anies added, had carried out 14,000 tests, higher than the WHO’s standard of 11,000 tests per week. “We have surpassed the target of the examination.”
The Jakarta administration would again evaluate the extension of the transitional PSBB period. Anies Baswedan pinned hopes that all residents could further comply with the predetermined health protocols, “because the pandemic still exists.”
