TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transjakarta decided to adjust its service standards in the new normal period, including expediting the bus headway during rush hours.
“Before the new normal, the bus headway is 5-10 minutes during peak hours, so in a new normal, it will be 2-3 minutes,” said the city’s bus network operational director, Prasetia Budi, in an online meeting on Tuesday, June 30.
Budi stated that his company will also limit the bus capacity to 50 percent of its total regular capacity in order to manage the safe distance between passengers. The same percentage is also valid at the bus stop to arrange the queue.
If the bus stop’s capacity exceeds the set limit, Budi added, the officer will take a number of actions, such as managing the line position by optimizing the area while keeping the physical distancing order and temporarily closing the access for passengers who wish to enter the bus stop.
According to Budi, Transjakarta had also prepared strategies to decrease the density in bus stops, such as by mobilizing a stand-by bus near the area, modifying the bus route without having transit, and deploying buses from quiet route to crowded ones with a long queue of passengers.
