TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Jakarta regional representative council (DPD) deputy chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Wiliam Yani, expressed his rejection of the recent burning of his party’s flag. He also objected that PDIP was accused of being a communist party.

On the other hand, William was confused by the flag burning incident. “The question is really clear, what is the relation of the demonstration to our party?” he said on Friday, June 26.

According to him, his party entrusted the legal process to the police to investigate the incident. “Today, with several lawyers representing the PDIP, we officially lodge a report,” said Wiliam. “We entrust it to the police.”

The 212 Alumni Brotherhood (PA 212) media center head, Novel Bamukmin, told Tempo that he hoped the police would reject or examine the report correctly. According to him, there was no PDIP flag burned during the demonstration against the Pancasila Ideology Guidelines Bill or RUU HIP on Wednesday, June 24.

Novel added that the report should meet two pieces of evidence, viz. witness and proof. “While, none of the PDIP flags are missing or taken, and there is no report of any lost flag,” he said via Whatsapp text.
