TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s presidential trip to East Java on Thursday marks the first physical presidential trip since the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono assures that the trip abided by existing health protocols.
Hartono explained that the number of people partaking in the trip was limited to its bare minimum and have all been subjected to general health checks and rapid tests.
“The presidential secretariat has surely implemented strict health protocols. Prior to the entourage departure, the president’s companions whether it is the state-minister, presidential security detail, and others were subjected to rapid tests,” said Heru at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta.
The Indonesia-1 presidential jet that is able to accommodate 55 passengers on a normal trip is now limited to 25 for trips amid the pandemic. The presidential secretariat explained that the president’s entourage are divided into two trips rather than one for this and future work-related trips.
