Ragunan Zoo to Open Soon; Limits Visitors to 1,000

19 June 2020 15:40 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ragunan wildlife park announced its readiness to gradually open its park on Saturday, June 20, for the public during the transitional PSBB (Covid-19 restriction), until the government eventually decides to declare the new normal.

Head of the zoo promotion unit, Ketut Widarsana, said the management will limit the number of visitors to 1,000 people during the first phase slated to take place on June 20-28.

“One must register online to visit,” said Widarsana today, June 19.

For comparison, Ragunan is able to attract under 5,000 visits on weekdays but would see a sudden spike up to 50,000 visits on Sundays. The park will remain closed every Monday as it has prior to the pandemic.

Throughout the transitional PSBB, the zoo will operate from 08:00 - 13:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) from Tuesday to Sunday, while online ticket services will start from 08:00 - 12:00. Visitors will undergo body temperature screen checks prior to entering the park.

Ragunan Zoo management will also impose strict health protocols by banning children aged between 0-9 years old, pregnant women, and senior citizens over 60 years old. People suffering from illnesses such as diabetes, heart diseases, TBC, kidney failure, and other complications will not be permitted to enter the wildlife park.
