TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national police (Polri) on Friday assures that there is no legal proceeding made against Ismail Ahmad, who quoted an old circulating joke of late-president Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid quipping police honesty on his social media timeline.
“There is no police investigation report (BAP), there is no case,” said National Police spokesperson Inspector General Argo Yuwono on Friday, June 19.
Argo Yuwono claims the North Maluku Police has issued a formal warning to the chief of the Sula Islands police precinct who 'summoned' Ismail to his office for questioning.
He elaborates that Ismail had only been summoned to give clarification on the content he wrote and posted on his Facebook account.
“The police investigator interpreted this as if there was something between him and the institution, which resulted in his summoning and clarification,” said Argo Yuwono.
As previous reports mentioned, Ismail Ahmad uploaded a status on his personal Facebook account that cited Gus Dur’s joke that said: "there are only three honest police members in Indonesia, namely a speed trap (known locally as polisi tidur or 'sleeping police'), police statue, and General Hoegeng."
