New Normal; AirAsia Only Allows 1 Cabin Luggage

16 June 2020 10:45 WIB

Air Asia X A330-900 aircraft

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia Indonesia applies new safety and health protocols in the new normal or new normal period. Passengers are now only allowed one cabin carry-on.

Only one small can be taken on board with maximum dimensions of 40 cm height, 30 cm length, and 10 cm width. The carry-on should not weigh more than seven kilograms. Anything other than that would be classified as checked baggage.

Passengers are also mandated to have their body temperatures taken, maintain physical distancing, and using facemasks before, during and after the flight. They are also advised to bring a spare mask and clean their hands regularly.

AirAsia will limit the sale of food and souvenirs during flights. Passengers are expected to have ordered food and drinks at least 24 hours before departure.

AirAsia Indonesia flight safety director Capt. Achmad Sadikin said the airline has adjusted its safety and health protocols according to the latest regulations set by the government.

"Our entire staff, including pilots and cabin crew, have undergone intensive training related to aviation safety procedures which are constantly updated in accordance with the latest policies," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 16.

All ground staff are required to use protective gears and use hand sanitizers frequently and minimize contact. Cabin crew will disinfect cabin areas routinely including the lavatory and galley.
