Ma'ruf Amin Allows Reopening of Boarding Schools in Green Zone

10 June 2020 22:41 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaVice President Ma'ruf Amin allowed boarding schools in areas categorized as green zones or are safe from the Covid-19 transmission to reopen as long as they implement the predetermined health protocols and coordinate with the Covid-19 Task Force.

According to the VP spokesman, Masduki Baidlowi, the planned reopening does not only apply to Islamic boarding schools but also other religious schools that adopt a boarding system.

“The government is highly concerned with education in this Covid-19 era. The focus is now on the boarding schools, both Islamic and non-Islamic. The goal is that the educational institutions will not become a new cluster after its reoperation,” Masduki said in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 10.

The government was also preparing additional facilities that are in line with the Covid-19 health protocols. Ma'ruf Amin reminded educational institutions to be equipped with proper sanitation according to the Health Ministry’s standards.

Several ministries involved in the preparation of the schools reopening are the Religious Affairs Ministry, the Public Works and Housing Ministry, the Health Ministry, the Finance Ministry, and the Communication and Information Ministry.

Meanwhile, Masduki went on, boarding schools that are located in yellow and red zones and plan to reopen their learning activities are asked to coordinate with the regional task force team in advance.
