TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Monument (Monas) area management unit (UPK) plans to reopen the Monas area to the public, pending the announcement of the results of evaluation of the transitional large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) by the Jakarta administration.
“There is no decision yet to reopen Monas, we have heard information that there will be an announcement on the results of the transitional PSBB, so we are awaiting the results,” said Monas area management spokesman Irfal Guci on Friday, June 5, 2020.
Ifral said the announcement was slated for June 18, in line with the reopening phase of recreation centers and zoos in the third week of the transitional PSBB period.
Irfal added his side was ready to open the Monas area should the results of the evaluation allow it to do so.
“We have prepared the standard operating procedures adhering to the COVID-19 protocols,” Irfal said, adding that the procedures comprise the obligation for visitors to wear face masks, physical distancing, body temperature checks, the provision of hand-washing facilities, and limited working time for the UPK Monas.
