TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has announced on Thursday, June 4, 2020, that the provincial administration will begin the transition period of the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) on Friday, June 5, 2020, until the end of June.
The transition period, Anies added, will be evaluated every week. In the first phase, the government will resume the social and economic activities gradually, such as allowing religious activities at mosques, churches, and temples, as well as office activities under predetermined health protocols.
Anies asserted that the transition period will be carried out until the city is ready to enter a new normal phase, which is a safe, healthy, and productive way of living during the coronavirus pandemic.
"The end of this transition period is not yet set," said Anies together with Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria in an online press conference on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
The former education and culture minister underlined that if the city records a significant hike of Covid-19 positive cases later in the future, the government will again suspend social activities. "We hope all residents will maintain discipline in complying with the health protocols," Anies underlined.
During the transition period from the PSBB to a new normal phase, Anies Baswedan went on, the government will keep imposing sanctions as noted in the Gubernatorial Regulation No. 41/2020.
"People who don't wear face masks will be fined IDR 250,000," Anies reminded.
