TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has officially announced that this June, the capital would enter the transition period before implementing the 'new normal'. The announcement was made in a virtual press conference from City Hall today, June 4.
“The large-scale social restriction (PSBB) transition period will be effective [until it is complete],” said the governor who was accompanied by deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria.
The PSBB itself will officially end on Thursday midnight, and will immediately be followed by the PSBB transition period on June 5 up until the end of June.
Anies Baswedan said that the social restriction in Jakarta can already be relaxed due to the dropping COVID-19 initial infection rate (R0) for the past several days that scored 0.99, compared to March that scored 4. The latter infection rate score means that one person can potentially infect four people.
The PSBB in Jakarta had been enacted since April 10 and was extended three times that lasted to June 4.
