TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national spokesperson for the accelerative handling of Coronavirus disease, Achmad Yurianto, said that 21 laboratories have yet reported the lab test results of COVID-19 specimens.
“Even though they have conducted the tests, the reports of those tests have yet reached our desk,” said Yurianto in today’s virtual press conference.
He also stated that the task force had already contacted the laboratories. Based on their data, 135 labs are testing COVID-19 specimens. As of May 27, there have been 14,313 specimens tested that accumulated to 278,411 specimens obtained from 195,518 people in total.
Achmad Yurianto insists that such reports from laboratories are essential for the government to conduct aggressive contact tracing which would lead to massive and strict isolations. “This is the way to reduce the source of transmissions among people,” he said.
Due to the delay of such a massive test, Yurianto urged people to remain highly aware and maintain distance from people that might be infected by COVID-19 but are not showing the typical symptoms of coronavirus infection.
