TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government repatriated 242 more cruise ship crew from Hamburg, Germany. In total, Indonesia has brought home 1,970 cruise ship crews from the country.

They are scheduled to arrive in Denpasar, Bali today at noon, May 21.

"Thank God, everyone tested negative for Covid-19. They each took two PRC tests," Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno said on Thursday.

The crew, who work for the TUI Cruises Group, flew on a chartered plane from Hamburg yesterday evening.

TUI Cruises on May 8 also sent home 180 crew members on a commercial flight. Over the last month, the company has sent home 1,241 crew of Indonesian nationals.

Other German cruise companies that have repatriated their Indonesian crew include AIDA Cruise (716 people).

Cruise companies are forced to send home their foreign crew members as businesses are put into a halt due to Covid-19 outbreaks.
