TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The COVID-19 pandemic has incited a global change in public attitude, popularly known as the ‘new normal.’ As such, you need to prepare on how best to protect yourself when you inevitably have to go out of your home.
Dr. Sandi Perutama Gani, a medical expert from pharmaceutical company Combiphar, has revealed that keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps in applying a clean and healthy living behavior during the new normal.
"This is to avoid getting infected by the virus and transmitting it to others. Especially when we can not avoid touching objects around; not only when the pandemic ends, but (continually) going forward," said Sandi.
When returning to your daily activities outside of the home, Sandi continued, you need to, first, discipline yourself by wanting to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. With this in mind, you will then want to consistently apply a clean and healthy lifestyle to prevent further transmission from happening.
Secondly, you need to be mindful and maintain physical distancing, while also avoiding crowds. Thirdly, wash your hands regularly with soap and running water. If there is no sink or toilet, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer will be a viable alternative. As such, always prepare one with you when going out of the house. Lastly, you also need to use your face masks at all times.
