TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the launching of research, technology, and innovative products that helped to accelerate the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic today, May 20, which coincided with the National Awakening Day.
As many as 55 products that were launched, including Covid rapid tests, were results of the study and developments of Indonesian research institutions and universities.
The president said the products were ready for mass production. “As I ask how many rapid test kits can be produced, around one hundred thousand units have been produced. More than one hundred thousand PCR test kits can be produced too,” he said during the launching event aired via Youtube account of the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday, May 20.
Other than PCR test kits and IgG/IgM rapid test kits, the other products included Emergency Ventilator, Herbal Immunomodulator, Plasma Convalescence, Mobile Lab BSL-2, AI system to detect Covid-19, Medical Assistant Robot named Raisa, and Powered Air Purifying Respirator.
The state head expressed his pride in the work of the nation’s children. “In the past, we only have them by import, but now we can produce them independently.”
The domestic cooperation and collaboration must be strengthened, Jokowi stressed. “R&D institutions of universities, business sector, industry sector, the public, and all must work together to develop this,” he said.
