TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In his inspection of the installment of self-isolation chambers in the Jakarta Art Building, Central Jakarta, Governor Anies Baswedan stated that the 2.5x2.5 meter square room will be intended for people who are being monitored for COVID-19 to undergo the isolation period.
"As we know that 80 percent of COVID-19 cases are those with mild symptoms and asymptomatic; (these patients) are required to be self-isolated for 14 days," the governor said, on his official Instagram account, @aniesbaswedan, on Monday, May 18, 2020.
In spite of the difficulty in finding space for self-isolation in the capital’s dense settlement area, Anies continued, each sub-district in the city now has a self-isolation place for residents with mild COVID-19 symptoms or People under Monitoring (ODP).
As such, he sees the self-isolation chambers to be a solution in curbing the coronavirus outbreak in the capital. "So that specialized health facilities can be fully prioritized for those with severe symptoms of COVID-19 and who need intensive care," he added.
According to Governor Anies, the COVID-19 self-isolation chambers have resulted from cooperation within the ranks of the Jakarta COVID-19 Task Force, including the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency, Region Owned Enterprise Sarana Jaya, and the Central Jakarta City Government.
