TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said there were at least 95,102 Indonesian migrant workers that had returned home up until Wednesday, May 13.
“Let me remind you that each and every arrival is subjected to health protocols as overseen by the Health Ministry,” said Minister Retno on Thursday.
Based on her report, most of the arrivals were Indonesians that returned from Malaysia with figures reaching 74,870 while the remaining 15,820 Indonesians came from 21 other countries. All of their arrivals were from air, land, and sea transportation.
Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto had previously established specific health protocols for the arrivals of Indonesians and foreign nationals especially amid the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) imposed on a number of regions.
People arriving in Indonesia will be subjected to a thorough health procedure such as health quarantine, additional background check interviews, body temperature checks, oxygen saturation checks, and PCR or rapid coronavirus (COVID-19) tests.
The government insists that each and every Indonesian national returning from overseas must at least have with them a health certificate that is written in English and is valid for a minimum of seven days since it was issued by a country’s official health validator. Indonesians with health certificates that show negative results for COVID-19 must still undergo additional health tests to make sure that they are free from the virus.
Only then they will be cleared to cross into the Indonesian border while also being handed a health alert card (HAC). Those without health certificates that can guarantee they are free from the virus will be subjected to further rapid tests or PCR tests.
