House Passes Perpu for COVID-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The majority of the House of Representatives (DPR) has officially passed the government regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) No.1/2020 that oversees the financial stability in facing the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
DPR Speaker Puan Maharani passed it into law on Tuesday, May 12, during the Plenary Meeting. Previously, only legislators from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) that rejected the passing of the Bill.
Today’s plenary meeting met the minimum quota as it was attended by 296 legislators with 255 of them participating in the meeting virtually while 41 physically attended it.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, representing President Jokowi, conveyed the government’s appreciation to House legislators for the decision.
“The government thanks House Speaker and DPR legislators for the Bill’s passing,” said Sri Mulyani.
