MCDonald's Sarinah to Close Permanently on May 10, 2020

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's first McDonald's outlet in Sarinah, Central Jakarta, or known as McDonald's Sarinah, will be closed permanently on May 10, 2020. The fast-food restaurant has been operating in Sarinah since February 23, 1991.
"McDonald's Indonesia is forced to close its first restaurant after 30 years of operation in Sarinah department store, Thamrin, and became one of the historical icons in Jakarta," McDonald’s Indonesia Director of Marketing Communications, Digital, and CBI Michael Hartono said in a press release received by Tempo on Friday, May 8.
Michael explained that the closure was based on the demand of Sarinah management conveyed in an official letter received by McDonald's Indonesia on April 30. The letter said Sarinah planned to perform a renovation and a change in business strategy.
All of its employees in the Sarinah outlet, Michael went on, would be relocated to other McDonald’s restaurants.
He thanked the customers for the support and contribution to the development of McDonald's Sarinah, asking the consumers to go nearby McDonald’s outlets, such as in Hayam Wuruk, Raden Saleh, Cideng, and Central Plaza.
