TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The University of Indonesia (UI) biostatistics and population department senior staff, Dr. Pandu Riono, MPH., Ph.D, on Tuesday, made it clear that there have yet been any compelling predictions assuring when the COVID-19 pandemic will end in Indonesia.
It is due to this issue Pandu strongly suggested the government to focus on handling the coronavirus spread instead of debating when to reschedule the annual Ramadan collective leave.
“We have no clue yet, so for the time being don’t take it into consideration. I’m dazed on why the government is busy with unnecessary matters,” said Pandu Riono on Tuesday.
He suggests the government cancel any remaining collective leaves for the rest of the year and encourages focused efforts in making sure that the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) is upheld and increasing the national COVID-19 testing capacity.
Talks about rescheduling the Eid al-Fitr collective leave was mentioned by the COVID-19 task force Head Doni Monardo. The government initially rescheduled it December but Doni’s announcement said the government is also open to the option of having it be held in June.
