TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The spokesman for Indonesian Covid-19 mitigation, Achmad Yurianto, said the government has now been able to control the spread of novel coronavirus.
“We are starting to be able to control this [virus] case, and the situation has even been better now,” he said at the BNPB Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 5.
Yurianto explained that virus transmission was expected to be more controlled in June and July. So in August, he hoped the people’s lives could gradually return to normal.
“Hopefully, we will be able to live a better life in August,” he added.
To achieve this, he called on the public to stay disciplined in adhering to physical distancing and stay home orders.
Yurianto said people are only allowed to leave home for emergency purposes and obliged to wear face masks. Besides, washing hands frequently is strongly advised, he underlined. “The key [to have a normal life] is to break the chain of virus transmission.”
According to Yurianto, the government’s policies on physical distancing and social safety net have been imposed. So the current vital thing is the people’s compliance to maintain hygiene and implement social restrictions.
“We must be in compliance [with government’s appeals], be disciplined, and have a strong commitment,” he underlined.
