Brief Breakdown of COVID-19 Cases Based on Age Groups

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The statistics from Indonesia’s coronavirus pandemic information hub, COVID19.go.id, shows that people within the age demographic of 50-69 are most affected by the disease. This is shown by the death toll of this demographic constitutes 60.61 percent of the total 765 death toll in Indonesia.
It also shows that the second-highest ranked death comes from people who are 70 years old and above with 18.019 percent from the entire death toll. Meanwhile, 18.01 percent of the death toll comes from the 30-49 age demographic while the least death toll comes from the 0-9-year-old age demographic with 0.59 percent.
The data also suggests that most of the COVID-19-related deaths is also due to the preexisting health conditions suffered by the people. The Covid19.go.id states that the top five preexisting conditions are: hypertension, diabetes, heart problems, chronic respiratory illnesses, and kidney disease.
Moving to the age demographic in the COVID-19 recoveries, the website suggests that people aged 30-49 dominate the recovery rate with 43.31 percent followed by the 50-69-year-old group with 32.18 percent.
As of Tuesday, April 28, Indonesia has reported 9,096 confirmed COVID-19 cases in total.
