TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Sports and Youth (Kemenpora) has announced a gymnastics (senam) competition to encourage Indonesians to remain active at home by exercising, even during the self-isolation period due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The competition, titled ‘Senam at Home’, opens for entry from May 1 to August 2. The competition has two categories; individual and family at a maximum of three people per family entry, with a total prize of Rp100 million.

“Everything will be done online. In two weeks, there may be 10 winners. The point is, whoever is most creative in their gymnastics within a duration of two minutes,” said Minister of Sports and Youth Zainudin Amali.

To participate in the competition, gymnastics enthusiasts will only need to imitate the set of gymnastics movements that has been published in the Ministry’s official social media, including Instagram, Facebook and Youtube. The participants will then need to document themselves and publish the video on their social media.

The winners will be announced every two weeks, as the ministry will select 10 of the best videos in each of the two weeks. They will be entitled to get Rp750,000 in cash per individual or family.

The announcement of winners in the grand final round will be held simultaneously with the celebration of the 75th Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2020. The winners will then be entitled to get Rp1,375,000 in cash.
