Ravio Patra Released from Custody, Says Indonesian Legal Aid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The chairperson of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI), Asfinawati, on Friday announced that the detained public policy researcher Ravio Patra had been released from the Metro Jaya Police headquarters.
“Yes, that is true,” said Asfinawati on April 24.
Open Government Partnership Steering Committee (OGP SC) member Ravia Patra was arrested by the Metro Jaya police on Wednesday, April 22, after he was implicated in an alleged hate speech case.
YLBHI deputy of advocacy, Era Purnamasari, also assured that police have released Ravio Patra earlier today at 08:30.
“[Ravio Patra] was released at 08:30 this morning,” said Purnamasari today.
The Metro Jaya police spokesman, Sr. Commissioner Yusri Yunus said that police suspect Ravio for sharing information that can potentially cause public unrest and spreading messages that entice hatred among the public.
The YLBHI deputy said that Ravio is currently named as a witness in the alleged chain-message offense and also assures that the foundation is providing him the legal assistance he needs and will reveal more details in a written press release soon.
