Sri Mulyani: G20 Prioritizes Health Sector Response to COVID-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting prioritized the collective actions of the members in tackling the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, both in the short and medium-term.
“For the short-term action, the G20 Action Plan includes commitments to ensure the top priority of the health sector response,” said Sri via her Instagram account on Friday, April 17.
The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting was held online on Wednesday, April 15, discussing the global economy and steps in responding to the pandemic.
Aside from prioritizing the response in the health sector, G20 members were committed to ensuring support for those most affected by the pandemic and reducing its negative impact in the economic and social sectors, Sri added.
The former managing director of the World Bank mentioned that international organizations also showed their commitment to support countries hardest hit by the pandemic and maintain financial stability.
As for the medium-term action, G20 members were determined to cooperate in improving the global economy in a bid to restore the strong, balanced, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth.
Besides, Sri Mulyani went on, G20 members yearned to take experience in dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as anticipatory measures in facing possible pandemic in the future.
