TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is set to cut its employees’ salaries from April to December 2020 and holiday allowances this year. The funds will be collected as social assistance in the OJK COVID-19 care program.
“Employees registered in the OJK Employee Association (IPOJK) across Indonesia establish the COVID-19 care program. They agree and are willing to distribute social aid through a monthly wage cut for nine months from April to December 2020 and allowance cut,” as quoted from OJK’s official statement on Thursday, April 16.
The statement noted that the salary deduction will be applied to all members of the OJK’s board of commissioners and officials. However, the program is optional for non-echelon employees.
The funds will be channeled to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency in order to ease the burden of various communities hit by the pandemic, including medical workers.
In addition to the care program, OJK employees also collected voluntary donations since March 2020, totaling Rp740,515,711. The donation turned into vitamins and staple foods for the affected communities, as well as PPE for medics.
