TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina Nicke Widyawati, said on Thursday, April 16, 2020, that the firm had no longer imported jet fuel (Avtur) and diesel fuel (Solar) since March 2020. She also claimed that Pertamina is able to produce a sufficient volume of the two types of fuel domestically.
The decreasing demand of Avtur and Solar due to the ongoing condition of health emergency has significantly increased both fuels daily supply quota. "Avtur supply is sufficient for 119 days, the same goes to Solar. So we are eyeing on the export potential even though we are aware that the prices are not in great condition currently," said Nicke in a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VI legislators on Thursday, April 16, 2020.
She argued that exporting Avtur can generate added revenue for Pertamina, and reduce the overflow of supply the country currently experiencing.
The Pertamina director also suggested companies that used to import Avtur and Solar to prioritize their purchase from Pertamina.
