Google Launches Indonesian Version of Teach From Home Site

16 April 2020 10:29 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaInternet giant Google launched the Indonesian version of Teach from Home program. The hub presents a collection of kits, tips, and training materials in order to help teachers and students to practice remote learning during the coronavirus pandemic.

Google Indonesia Managing Director Randy Jusuf said the pandemic forced more than 700 million students globally to not go to schools, including 62 million Indonesian students.

“This condition has caused enormous pressure on families, schools, and teachers who play a vital role in encouraging children’s interest in learning. We want to help in whatever way we can do,” said Rany in a written statement on Wednesday, April 15.

Through the initiative developed by Google for Education, which is supported by the Education and Culture Ministry, teachers and students can access course materials on g.co/mengajardarirumah and the ministry’s page Bersama Hadapi Korona.

Google also developed a special domain that supported 1.8 million accounts of teachers and students in over 4,600 schools in Jakarta so that they can access G Suites for Education easily.

According to Randy, Teach from Home hub is a development of Google's efforts to support remote learning. “We provide free features of Google Meet premium for all subscribers of G Suite and G Suite for Education until September 2020, and provide training and tips via Google, YouTube and YouTube Learning,” he added.

Additionally, along with the Google teachers group community dubbed REFO Indonesia and the Education and Culture Ministry, Google launched a series of webinars to help teachers and parents implement remote learning strategies using G Suite for Education.
