TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Jakarta Administration held a surprise inspection across six malls to confirm businesses' conformity with the large-scale social restriction (PSBB) that has entered its fifth day.
"This policy not only applies to small businesses but each and every business in the area. The ban that is oversaw by the Governor's Regulation No.33/2020 applies to everyone. Today we inspected Senayan City," said the head of Central Jakarta’s public order agency (Satpol PP), Bernard Tambunan on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
Other popular malls subjected to the operation were Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia, Thamrin City, Senayan City, and FX Senayan. The Satpol PP was joined by the military and police personnel in the inspection.
The PSBB social restriction bans stores from opening businesses, with the exception of those that sell daily needs and staple needs. Bernard stated that the inspection discovered one store selling alcoholic beverages still operating, even though the commodity does not qualify as staple needs.
Apart from the aforementioned case, the inspection found that most businesses have adhered to the government's large-scale social restriction call with food stores only serving takeouts.
