Greater Tangerang Set to Enforce Social Restriction on April 18

14 April 2020 08:32 WIB

TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - The South Tangerang city administration decided to enforce large-scale social restriction or PSBB starting on Saturday, April 18, in an effort to contain the coronavirus pandemic. The status will be applied to Tangerang Greater Areas.

“Through a video conference with Banten Governor, Tangerang Mayor, Tangerang Regency, Tangerang Military Command 0506, Tangerang Police Chief, Tangerang Attorney General Office, we have agreed on the implementation of PSSB in Tangerang Greater Areas on next Saturday,” said South Tangerang Mayor Airin Rachmi Diany on Monday, April 13.

According to Airin, the city administrations needed time for preparing the status, a step below the regional lockdown.

“One of the preparations is the legal umbrella, a gubernatorial regulation for Greater Tangerang to conduct PSBB. We are waiting for the draft from the Governor to be reviewed together,” Airin added.

Airin said that before the social restriction on a large scale is imposed in Tangerang, the local government will disseminate the program to the public.

“We have formulated dissemination measures. Hopefully, everything will be completed tomorrow so Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be enough to socialize it to the COVID-19 task force in the neighborhood community level via WhatsApp group,” Airin concluded.
