TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Railway operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) External Relations Manager, Adli Hakim, confirmed that five train stations were crowded by people today, April 13, despite Jakarta being on the fourth-day large-scale social interactions (PSBB) status.
“At Bogor, Cilebut, Bojonggede, Citayam, and Depok stations, commuters are willing to queue this morning to take trains,” Adil said in a written statement, Monday, April 13.
Adli said more than 4,000 service and security officers were deployed at 80 stations to educate the public about the reduction of passenger numbers in each car in an effort to maintain the physical distancing order in mass transports in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. “PT KCI is assisted by the marine corps member,” he added
PT KCI, he went on, hoped that the regional administrations participate in controlling and monitoring the PSBB implementation. All related parties, including employers, were also expected to obey the policy.
“So we hope employers who still require their workers to work on-site can instruct them to work from home or relax the working hours, given there are limited operational hours and passenger capacity in all public transport modes,” Adli remarked.
Jakarta has been enforcing the social restrictions on a large scale since April 10, 2020, forcing several public transport to adjust their operations. For example, Commuter Line of Jakarta Greater Area or Jabodetabek limited its operational hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., mobilized only 683 trips, allowed only 60 passengers in a car, and enforced physical distancing.
