Pandemic, AP II Shortens Operational Hours of 12 Airports

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) shortened the operational hours of 12 airports under its management following the coronavirus pandemic. The change is aimed at preventing the even wider spread of the virus.
The twelve airports include Kertajati (Majalengka), Sultan Thaha (Jambi), Depati Amir (Pangkalpinang), Fatmawati Soekarno (Bengkulu), Sultan Iskandar Muda (Aceh), Tjilik Riwut (Palangkaraya) dan Raja Haji Fisabilillah (Tanjung Pinang), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II (Palembang), Radin Inten II (Lampung), Supadio (Pontianak), Sultan Syarif Kasim II (Pekanbaru) and Banyuwangi,
These airports will operate in the shorter hours than usual. However, AP II CEO Muhammad Awaluddin said that the airports will remain alert to anticipate a number of flights in certain conditions.
“AP II is on standby if a technical problem is found in an aircraft and that they need to land. We’ll also be ready to serve flights regarding medical and logistic that transport sample of Covid-19 infection substance,” Awaluddin said in a press conference, Friday night, April 10.
The following in the list of 12 airports with new operational hours that was set based on notice to airmen (NOTAM):
- Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport (Palembang)
Operational at 06:00-18:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on April 11-30. Previous operational hours: 05:00-24:00 WIB
- Radin Inten II Airport (Lampung)
Operational at 10:00-20:00 WIB on April 10-30 April. Previous operational hours: 06:00-21:00 WIB
