TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The state railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has made adjustments to the operational hours of trains departing from Jakarta. This is done following the enforcement of large-scale social restriction (PSBB) in the capital to curb the apread of coronavirus (Covid-19).

As of today, April 10, until April 23, there are only seven long-distance trains departing from the Jakarta Operation Area 1, with reduced operational time.

In addition to the enactment of the PSBB policy in Jakarta, KAI Jakarta Operation Area 1 Chief of Public Relations, Eva Chairunisa, stated that the adjustments were also made due to the decline in passengers of long distance trains in the Jakarta Operation Area 1.

"The decline is around 80 percent," Eva Chairunisa said, on Thursday, April 9, 2020.

Five of the seven long distance trains from Jakarta depart from Gambir Station, and are headed to Bandung, Cirebon and Surabaya, as its final destinations. Two trains depart from Pasar Senen Station and head to Purwokerto and Surabaya.

"The trains only operate from 6:00 to 18:00 local time," Eva added.

The restriction in operational hours also applies to the counter service at the stations, as services are only operational until 16:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

As a result of the PSBB enactment in Jakarta, 63 trains in total have been put out of operation, from April 10 to April 23.

More specifically, 35 trains from Gambir Station, 25 trains from Pasar Senen Station, and 3 trains from the Jakarta Kota Station. Ticket fees will be refunded in full by PT KAI for passengers affected by the reduction in train travel.

Here are the seven long-distance trains departing from Jakarta on April 10-23.

  1. KA 44 Argo Parahyangan Excellence (Gambir - Bandung) departs at 15:40 WIB

  2. KA 7030A Argo Parahyangan (Gambir - Kiaracondong) departs at 07:50 WIB.

  3. KA 24 Argo Cheribon (Gambir - Cirebon) departs at 12:20 WIB.

  4. KA 34 Argo Cheribon (Gambir - Cirebon) departs at 07:30 WIB.

  5. KA 72 Bima (Gambir - Surabaya Gubeng) departs at 16:40 WIB.

  6. KA 256A Kertajaya train (Pasar Senen - Surabaya Pasar Turi) departs at 14:15 WIB.

  7. KA 322 Serayu (Pasar Senen - Purwokerto via Kiaracondong) departs at 09:15 WIB.
