TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chinese video sharing application TikTok has donated Rp100 billion to the Indonesian COVID-19 Task Force.

“TikTok donated Rp100 billion, as humanitarian assistance to fund operations to overcome COVID-19," said Task Force Chief, Doni Monardo, on Thursday, April 9, 2020.

The donation, Doni continued, will be prioritized for medical personnel, such as doctors, nurses, hospital employees, hearse and ambulance drivers, and other employees who work to handle the coronavirus outbreak.

“We send our gratitude to TikTok who has donated a great amount,” he added.

TikTok Indonesia, Malaysia and The Philippines' head of Public Policy, Donny Eryastha has also expressed his gratitude for playing a role in handling the pandemic.

"We hope that our Rp100 billion donation would be able to lighten (the burden) and help as well as support the medical personnel," Donny said.

According to Donny, TikTok as a digital platform is committed to making efforts in attempting to spread the accurate information to the public.
