Govt Forms COVID-19 Task Force to Secure National Borders

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the National Agency for Border Management (BNPP) Tito Karnavian, has formed a COVID-19 Task Force for national borders, also known as the BNPP Task Force, on duty for 7 months, until October 2020.
The establishment of the BNPP Task Force is stipulated in the Chief of BNPP’s Decree Number PWS / 81.04 / 830 / IV / 2020 on 7 April 2020.
Tito, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs, explained that the BNPP Task Force was formed for the prevention of COVID-19 transmission between nations.
On top of that, the formation of the Task Force has also been for the acceleration of an integrated and synergized COVID-19 management between the central and regional governments in the national border regions, neighboring other countries.
"That includes the seven regions of the nation’s border outposts (PLBN)," he said in a written broadcast, on Thursday, April 9, 2020.
Furthermore, Tito has appointed acting BNPP Secretary Suhajar Diantoro as chief of the BNPP Task Force. Suhajar will be assisted by 3 BNPP Deputies as Deputy Chief of the Task Force.
In practice, the BNPP Task Force will report to the Chief of BNPP and the National COVID-19 Task Force. Furthermore, the BNPP Task Force is divided into two working units (Pokja).
The first working unit, also known as Pokja 1, is tasked with Data Collection of District Needs in Priority Locations (Lokpri) Management of the National Borders. The second working unit, also known as Pokja 2, is tasked with Data Collection of PLBN Needs.
