TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad on Wednesday expressed appreciation toward biotech giant Roche Swiss for prioritizing Indonesia in sending their PCR lab kit amid Indonesia’s battle against coronavirus (COVID-19).
“We convey our deepest appreciation for Roche, especially its CEO, Severin Schwan,” said Hadad to Tempo in a text message on Wednesday.
According to the former OKJ chairman, the first batch delivery has been completed as the devices arrived in Indonesia on Tuesday, April 7.
The Roche coronavirus swab test device is claimed to be highly precise and has better accuracy compared to the rapid test kits in terms of detecting the COVID-19 virus.
Based on the report Tempo received earlier, the test kits from Swiss in the first batch include the MagNa Pure 96, Lightcycler 480, and Lightcycler 96. The test equipment will enable Indonesia to conduct up to PCR 10,000 tests each day after it gets distributed to 12 Indonesian provinces hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ambassador also attributed the assistance to the partnership between Foreign Affairs Ministry, SOE ministry, Indonesian Embassy and Roche headquarters in Jakarta.
