TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan has allocated a special budget to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from the regional budget (APBD).
“From Jakarta, we have allocated Rp3.032 trillion for the COVID-19 handling,” said the governor in the video conference with the Indonesian Vice President on Thursday, April 2.
The governor said that the budget will be used to fund the city’s fight against the virus up until May this year, by gradually allocating Rp1.3 trillion and an additional Rp2 trillion.
Anies Baswedan said that the budget can be added to Rp87.9 trillion if the pandemic continues to spread in May.
He conveyed his gratitude to the Home Affairs Minister for issuing an official circular that effectively gives more leeway for regional governments to act independently upon issuing coronavirus mitigation policies.
