TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government's spokesman for the coronavirus mitigation Achmad Yurianto says the public donation to the COVID-19 Task Force continues to grow. As of Thursday, April 2, it saw a total of Rp72.2 billion, which is Rp5 billion more compared to the previous day.
“The donation has reached Rp72.2 billion,” said Yurianto at the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) press conference today, April 2.
Apart from the open donation, the government continues to recruit volunteers to help mitigate the coronavirus outbreak that are stationed for numerous tasks. One of them is to track down individuals who are believed to have been in contact with people who have been tested positive for COVID-19.
Achmad Yurianto said today that the team of volunteers managed to collect 7,000 specimen samples from the public. These specimens will then be tested in laboratories to determine its status regarding the coronavirus infection.
“This is so we could conduct quarantines to stop the chain of infection,” said the spokesman.
The COVID-19 team has also distributed personal protective equipment (PPE) to a number of affected provinces. Jakarta reportedly received the most with 85,000 PPE, followed by West Java with 55,000, and Bali with 12,500.
