TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction in the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) demanded provincial administration ensure a sufficient supply of logistics and food if the capital city decides to enter coronavirus lockdown or local quarantine.
“The Jakarta administration must prepare for lockdown, including by ensuring logistics supply in regional markets,” said the faction head Mohammad Arifin in a written statement on Monday, March 30.
Arifin explained residents must not be beset due to the shortage of staple commodities in the market following the regional isolation. At least, he opined, the supply of food and others in the city must be sufficient for the next one to two months ahead.
The politician also reminded the city administration to provide delivery services for residents so that they should not have to go outside their homes to meet their needs, moreover, for those who are classified as people or patients under monitoring.
"So the goods are brought closer to residents. Do not let them travel far to get staples," he added.
PKS also reminded that cooperation with the security forces is necessary to ensure that there are no queues and panic buying in the community. "Heads of community, association units, and neighboring units must be deployed, especially to encourage its people to help each other [during the coronavirus crisis]," Arifin concluded.
