Doctor Dies at Bandung Hospital after Contracting Coronavirus

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A doctor (57) who was treated at the Hasan Sadikin Bandung Hospital passed away after contracting the coronavirus or COVID-19 on March 26. The doctor’s death adds to the list of doctors who perished in the line of duty due to coronavirus. 

The Indonesian Doctors’ Association previously announced the death of six doctors due to the same circumstances. 

The 57-year old doctor was declared positive for the virus that started in Wuhan, China, after undergoing a swab test and eventually died at the hospital’s isolation room. There are seven patients under monitoring (PDP) in this facility.

”The doctor was previously stationed at a West Java general hospital,” said the Hasan Sadikin Bandung hospital’s director, M Kamaruzzaman on Thursday. ”The total number of PDP cases amounts to 31 people while there are 16 who have been declared positive for coronavirus.”

The demographic of patients who tested positive range from 24 year old to 61 year old patients. The Hasan Sadikin Bandung hospital has treated 66 Covid-19 cases and have since declared 22 positive cases with two people recovering from the disease.
