TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - With 50 medical personnel infected with COVID-19 and two dead, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has stated that the COVID-19 rapid test in Jakarta will be prioritized for medical personnel, as they are most at risk of transmission.
"The COVID-19 rapid test kit we have right now will be prioritized, firstly, for the medical staff," Anies said at an online press conference at the Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, March 26, 2020.
If the COVID-19 rapid test proven the medical personnel to be COVID-19 positive, Anies continued, the medical personnel in question will immediately receive special treatment. On the other hand, medical personnel tested to be COVID-19 negative would be allowed to resume their duty.
In addition, Anies has also distributed Personal Protective Equipment (APD) for medical personnel to be protected from COVID-19 transmission. "Support for medical personnel is absolutely necessary because the risk of exposure is the greatest," Anies said.
The Jakarta Regional Government is preparing as many as four government-owned hotels to be used as temporary housing facilities for medical personnel.
Anies added that the makeshift housing facilities will provide care for the medical personnel. Moreover, the Jakarta Regional Government has prepared Transjakarta busses to transport medical personnel from the hotel to hospitals.
