TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commander of the Jakarta Military Regional Command, Major General Eko Margiyono, stated that the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital at Athlete’s Dormitory (Wisma Atlet Kemayoran) is implementing a self-handling system for its patients by utilizing "video call visit" technology.
“We want to convey to the public that this hospital is different from the rest. This hospital is implementing a self-handling service system, with video call visit technology," told Major General Eko at a press conference in the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Building, Jakarta, on Thursday, March 26.
Another system being implemented, he said, is an independent quarantine system that limits contact between staff at the hospital and the COVID-19 patients, as the hospital only exclusively attends to patients with mild to moderate conditions.
“Thirdly, we are limiting contact with the (hospital) staff, and fourthly, if the condition becomes more critical, then the patient will be referred to referral hospitals, such as Sulianti Saroso Infectious Disease Hospital or Persahabatan Hospital,” said Eko.
Continuing on, Eko reminded that people who feel symptoms and have had direct contact with positive COVID-19 patients prior, can be examined independently at the Emergency Hospital.
"If you experience symptoms and (were in) contact with those who are exposed, you can report independently, or contact the 119 call center," he added.
The coronavirus treatment facility at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran started the operation on Monday, March 23, with 78 patients and raised to a total of 208 patients on Thursday, March 26. The Covid-19 emergency hospital gears to minimize the number of patients in referral hospitals.
