TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government spokesman for the coronavirus outbreak mitigation Achmad Yurianto, announced 65 new confirmed cases of the virus disease or COVID-19 on Monday, March 23, 2020.
"The addition of 65 cases are recorded in various provinces, bringing the total to 579 cases, the number of people who are recovered amounts to 30, while the fatalities reach 49," Yurianto said.
Therefore, Yurianto said the government would immediately distribute personal protective equipment, the rapid coronavirus testing, and medicines to the virus epicenter areas.
Previously, a total of 12 tons of medical equipment needed for treating COVID-19 patients as well as containment efforts from China arrived at Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport on Monday, March 23, 2020.
Upon the plane's arrival at Halim, officers immediately sprayed the aircraft with disinfectant, as well as its baggage and crew.
The health logistics was handed over to the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the COVID-19 Task Force, which was then distributed to the COVID-19 medical treatment team.
The medical devices which were the result of the partnership between Indonesian and Chinese government included disposable masks, n95 masks, protective clothing, goggles, gloves, shoe covers, infrared thermometers, and surgical caps.
