TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Depok administration has responded to President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) call to conduct rapid coronavirus testing with intense positivity as the region’s COVID-19 task force deputy, Dadang Wihana, acknowledged the move as an “extremely responsive and proactive decision” to suppress the number of viral transmissions.
“This is a good response, meaning that we will proactively [detect coronavirus],” said Dadang at the Depok City Hall on Thursday, March 19. “We welcome the news with enthusiasm, we only need to figure out how to technically implement it which will soon be done.”
As an initial phase, Dadang said the rapid coronavirus testing will be conducted in the exact locations where the cases are found within the region.
In a previous report, President Jokowi called for the rapid test to be commenced as soon as possible across the nation following the rising number of cases and COVID-19-related deaths.
“Quickly implement rapid coronavirus testing across a larger scale to detect cases earlier. We can quickly indicate whether a person has been exposed to COVID-19 or not,” said the President.
